We have a free ‘introduction to working in childcare’ course aimed to increase your knowledge and skills within childcare, enabling you to work within a childcare setting

DATE: Friday 10th May
TIME: 10.00 to 14.00
VENUE: Oakridge Hall For All, Basingstoke, RG21 5RG

X 3 Fridays 10th, 17th & 24th May:. All days need to be attended to ensure you benefit fully from the course. Please advise your tutor or admin of any absences.

This course is to enable learners to develop basic knowledge of the needs of young children and to their role in supporting development.

What you will learn:

  1. Explain the importance of communication and give at least 2 methods
  2. Identify at least 2 examples of how to create a safe environment to play
  3. Explain the importance of play in relation to child development
  4. List at least 2 examples of assessing skills & experiences for potential work / opportunities /careers in childcare

 

Who is this course for? Learners wishing to enter the childcare sector

Previous knowledge/experience: This is a foundation and confidence building course, so no previous knowledge / experience is necessary.

What you will learn: Basic knowledge of the needs of young children

How you will learn: By group and individual tutorial with written examples to show understanding

How you will be assessed: By participation within the sessions and completion of tasks set.

For the first session you will need to buy/bring: A pen and paper

Progression opportunities from this course are: Stepping up to level 3 childcare, level 3 childcare. You may like to attend further course of study at the Centre or progress to a qualification course or attend a college course
